Some products are genuinely groundbreaking. Mill is one of them.

Created by the minds behind Apple and Nest, Mill is a smart kitchen bin that reduces household food waste through an intelligent dehydration and grinding cycle — turning food scraps into a dry, odourless material that can be repurposed. It was even featured on Netflix’s What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates.

Our role

When Mill briefed us, the challenge was clear: this wasn’t just a kitchen appliance. It was a piece of considered, design-led technology that needed visuals to match. Top-tier 3D was the only option – not only to reflect the product’s aesthetic, but to effectively communicate the technology behind it.

We created a full CGI asset library for Mill, spanning AR applications, PDP content, set design and motion design. Form as well as function. Every asset was built to showcase the product from every angle – how it looks, how it works, and why it matters.

Why CGI was the right choice

The Mill product presents real challenges for traditional photography – its surfaces, interior mechanisms and compact proportions are difficult to capture accurately in a studio environment. CGI gave us total control. We could light it perfectly, show its interior workings, and demonstrate its intelligent cycles in ways that photography simply couldn’t achieve.

The result is a library of assets that sits comfortably alongside some of the world’s most design-forward tech brands.
